Louise Botkay, visual artist and filmmaker, studied at the National Film School of France (FEMIS), and filmed in countries such as Haiti, Congo, Niger, Chad, the Netherlands, France and Brazil. She makes films in different media, using both cell phone and video and super-8, 16 and 35 mm film that are developed artisanally by the artist herself. Her works were selected and awarded at festivals such as Oberhausen Festival, Fid de Marseille, VidéoBrasil, Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin, São Paulo film Festival, Brive Festival, Anger 1er Plan Festival, Fespaço, Recife International Window festival, among others. Received the E-flux award in the international competition of the festival of Oberhausen 2016.

Her film Vertières was chosen one of the ten best films of 2015 by the magazine Artforum in the selection of the curator and theoretical Nicole Brenez. In 2018 she had a Profile on the international film festival of Oberhausen, curated by Lisette Lagnado. Her more recent work, A film for Ehuana received a prize from the state ministry of culture of Noorth Rhine-Westaphalia- Germany.
